Yamunanagar District is one of the 22 Districts in the State of Haryana and came into existence in November 1989, being carved out of District Ambala. Yamunanagar was earlier known as Abdullapur.
A BIT ABOUT THE HARYANA STATE
The name Haryana has been derived from the Sanskrit Words(the Hindu God Vishnu) and ayana (home), meaning “The Abode of God”.
Also it is believed that the name could have been derived from Hari (Sanskrit Harit, “Green”) and Aranya (“Forest”). The State of Haryana is one of the 29 States of the Country and came into existence on 1st of November 1966, carved out of the State of Punjab with joint Capital of both States at Chandigarh. The State of Haryana is 22nd in terms of Land Area of the Country with 44212 Square Kilometres, appx. 1.40% of Land Area of India. It is situated in the North of the Country, adjacent to the National Capital New Delhi. The Geographical Location of State Capital Chandigarh is : Longitude : 77.47 Latitude : 30.44.
The Population of Haryana as per 2011 census is 2.54 Crores. The GDP of the State estimated in 2017-18 is Rs. 6.87 Lac Crores (USD 96 Billion) which is at 13th position in the Country wise ranking. The Per Captia income in 2017-18 is estimated at Rs 1.97 Lacs (USD 2700), Fifth highest in the Country against the National average of USD 1600. The GDP of the State is derived as follows

The District of Faridabad is highly industrialized and the most populous in the State of Haryana. The District of Gurugram is the leading financial hub of the State with host to a Number of Fortune 500 Companies, IT companies and also being the Centre of the largest Passenger Vehicle Manufacturer of India, Maruti Suzuki Limited and the biggest Manufacturer of MotorCycles, Hero Motors Ltd.
REVERTING BACK TO YAMUNANAGAR
The District is situated on the National Highway 73 and is connected both by Road and Railway. Yamuna Nagar District is bound by the State of Himachal Pradesh in the North 30° 17 Latitude, by the State of Uttar Pradesh in the East, and South East by the Districts of Karnal and Kurukshetra in the South North, by Ambala District in the West. The District is sub-mountainous and is situated at the foothills of Himalayas, the Shiwalik Range nearby the Sirmour District of HP. The Yamuna River flows on the Eastern part of the District and is also the Border of UP and Haryana States. Yamunanagar District is located at a Height of 274 Meters from the Sea level. The District is located in Toposhet No. 53/F,2,3,4,7,8,11 and 12 of Survey of India.
It is about 106 Kms from Chandigarh, 225 Kms from New Delhi 110 Kms from Dehradun and also the District’s nearest three Airports.

The Land Area of the District is 1757 Square Kms. The Population as per 2011 Census is 12.14 Lacs. The Literacy of the District is 79%. Sugarcane, Wheat and Rice are the main agricultural Crops. The District has abundant Groundwater. A good cultivation of Eucalyptus and Poplar Trees is also done for commercial use in Industries. The District is the Second biggest generator of revenues in the State of Haryana. The District has a prosperous Small scale Sector with the No. of MSME Units at close to 5000 providing employment to a close of 50000 to 75000 people. The District has Two planned Industrial Estates in the Town Yamunanagar and Manakpur, close to the Town of Jagadhri. Also areas on Delhi Road are well developed industrially with Khajuri, Pansara, Damla, Rattangarh having maximum no. of Industries. The Main Industries include Wood based and Plywood Units numbering 1000 appx. Producing Plywood, Block Board, Flush Doors, Laminates etc. Metal based Units again numbering close to 1000 including Stainless Steel, Brass and Aluminium Utensils and Industrial Sheets. Engineering Goods industry producing Sugar Machinery, Hydraulic Presses, Automobile Leaf Springs, Paper, Cement and Chemical Plants Machinery, Mini Cement Plants, Plywood Units Machinery, Iron Castings, Hydraulic Jacks, Electrical Industry machinery and a lot of related Engineering items. Other Industries include M/s Railway Workshop, Jagadhri Workshop in Public Sector, engaged in the repair of Railway Carriges and Wagons of the Indian Railways. Bilt producing Paper and paper Board, Saraswati Sugar producing Sugar, Blue Craft producing Maize Starch, yet others in the field of Rectified Spirit, Automobile Moulded and Electroplated Plastic Parts, Metal Alloys, Electrical Panels, Calcium Carbonate, Glue, Zinc Oxide etc. The District has a well developed Mining Industry along the River Yamuna and a huge requirement of the Construction Sector of Northern India is met from here. In District Yamuna Nagar there are appx. 15 to 20 Units, that are exporting their Products to various Countries like U.S.A., U.K., Germany, France, Switzerland, China, Indonesia, Canada, & Gulf Countries. Nearby Industrial Area of Uttrakhand, Haridwar, Dehradun, Kala amb, Paonta Sahib and Baddi in HP, Ambala, Chandigarh industrial belt are within 100 km radius of Yamuna Nagar.
